Vital Records

Vital records document life events under governmental authority. These records are represented by documents such as birth certificates, death certificates, marriage records and divorce records. Effective January 1, 2014, all vital records fee transactions increased to $20. Requests for vital records must include the right fee amount, so they are accepted. All vital events occurring in the state such as birth, death and marriage, and the bureau have an interstate exchange agreement with all of the other states. According to the Bureau of Health Statistics, they register approximately 100,000 events and issues about 85,000 certified copies annually.
