Iowa Bill of Sale

A bill of sale is a certificate that documents transaction details. If you are selling a car to a private party, you need to provide the buyer with a bill of sale. This document must include the seller's full name, the signature of the seller, the buyer's full name, the date of the sale, the purchase price, the make, year and VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) of the vehicle. If two people own a car, the person listed on the title should sign the bill of sale. You may also need your bill of sale to complete a vehicle's title transfer.
