Traffic Signs

Traffic signs provide the necessary information to make driving possible. Some signs or symbols convey information or warnings, while others may simply notify us of actions we need to take. Shapes and colors also play a main role in defining the meaning of the different signs. The use of red, for example, is limited to stop, yield and prohibition signs. Yet, white signs indicate regulatory signs and yellow signs convey warning messages. Being alert and avoiding distractions is equally critical, so you don't miss any important traffic signs on the road. To learn and/or review the significance of traffic signs, revise the official driving manuals. You can find the Iowa Driver's Manual, the Commercial Driver License Manual or the Iowa Motorcycle Operator's Manual online by visiting the Iowa Department of Transportation website.
